| Guapo already had an NA when he did the conversion .. But that guy is about to buy one ... I personally agree with the concept of getting a cheap NA, then doing a conversion from a JSpec clip... the trick here is to find a clean clip ... with a CLEAN engine
Advantages are: 1- Cheaper to do than getting a TT that needs all the work mentioned below.
2- Low mileage engine that will last for a long time.
3- Less abused car, if stock... in most cases.
4- You have the choice to put in bigger turbos if you want to spend an extra $2000.
5- You get to perform a 60K the easy way before you drop everything in.
6- You get to reseal the valve covers without having to suffer a plenum pull.
7- You get to put in new injectors without having to suffer a plenum pull.
8- You get to put a new wiring harness the easy way.
9- You get to change all the vacuum and fuel lines.
10- You get to run new vacuum lines from your turbos wastegates for an easy boost controller install.
11- You get to eliminate the plenum/TB water lines.
12- You get to put in new PCV valves without cursing.
13- You get to put in an upgraded clutch and flywheel and rear main seal.
14- You get to change the shifter bushings the easy way.
15- You get to change the split engine mounts,
16- The cracked tranny mount,
17- and the bad Steering rack bushings.
18- You get to clean, paint or polish the parts you want.
19-No Nicas crap.
20- NA rear end. You end up with an extra engine and tranny and lots of extra spare parts for sale .. that you can trade in for a TT fuel pump because you will need that. And finally you get the satisfaction to do everything yourself, or with the help of some friends, the way you want it .. and take your time to do it. The final result is a TT that is almost as good as one you got new from the dealer, even better, because that one is customized to your liking. You buy a TT .. you still have to do everything I mentioned above .. while you have already paid the extra $$ for a TT..
Of course all that is all possible now because the widely available JSpec clip at cheap prices... $2500
